"After watching AKC competitions on TV, I had decided that I wanted to get involved in dog agility. I am a former athlete myself, playing soccer and basketball, and I train athletes as my full time job. I was looking for something new to compete in and I thought it would be fun to get into dog agility specifically.

I got Oakley when he was 8 weeks old and started him in agility foundations classes when he was 9 months old with Heather Cotterman at Dirty Dogs training in Parker, Colorado. It has been a challenging and fun experience. I didn't realize what the process for teaching a dog agility entailed. So we went all in to get Oakley to the point of being able to compete. I purchased a few jumps and a training weave pole set from J&J Supplies to help with our practice outside of agility classes.

Oakley is now 2 years old and he had his first competition in August and did well above my expectations for him. We still have a lot to work on but it was a great first run. I'm excited to see the progress he will continue to make!"
